Elmo

Ever since I watched two parents fight over a Tickle Me Elmo one Christmas season, I have been aware of the affect Elmo has on people. Yet, I have never fully appreciated Elmo’s charisma until just a few days ago.

I don’t allow television in my home, so I try to buy Ethan and Vienna fun educational videos to watch once in awhile. Well, last week I bought Ethan some Elmo videos. WOW! Let me walk you through our conversation last night.

Me: Ethan, Can you name everyone in our family?
Ethan: Mommy, Daddy.
Me: Yes, Mommy and Daddy.Ethan: Enna, Ofie, Buzzy
Me: Yes, Vienna, Sophie, and Buster are our family.Ethan: ELMO!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Elmo? Ummm…yes…Elmo is here as well.
Ethan: Bye Bye Mommy. Bye Bye Daddy. Hi Elmo!

So Elmo has moved in…and apparently is part of the family.

I guess I will be the next parent seen fighting over an Elmo doll during the Christmas season. Ethan and Vienna just died when they saw Live Elmo the other day. I’ve quickly learned that Live Elmo has replaced Tickle Me Elmo and is in very high demand. So now I won’t be just fighting for just an Elmo doll. I’ll be fighting for a family member which brings a whole new intensity to any situation.

Note: Any grandparent looking for a Christmas gift for a certain adorable little two year old boy could easily win his heart with Live Elmo while also giving the gift of no shopping nightmares to his mother.
