So many ladies are hopping on the not-going-anywhere-trend of second baby showers (aka “baby sprinkles”). The reality that every baby is a blessing and deserves celebration is sinking in and second baby sprinkles are all the rage! Second baby showers or baby sprinkles are generally more intimate, gift optional, and often given after baby arrives. I created this Tea Party Shower for a dear friend who was recently blessed with a second little cutie wrapped in pink.
To create a fun and inspiring tea party theme, I purchased inexpensive children’s tea sets. Try looking for them at thrift stores or antique stores. (I actually bought the photographed tea sets from Walmart for less than five dollars a set!!! Eeek! Sometimes I like Walmart. Sometimes I hate Walmart. But this time I loved Walmart.) I decorated mini cupcakes with fresh flowers and then placed each one inside of a tea cup. Fresh flowers create a girly-atmosphere for your tea party. Buy a few dozen gerber daisies or tea roses. Place your extra blooms on cupcakes or dessert plates. Check out Cupcakes with Flower Power for a list of edible flowers, extra inspiration, and links!
“When two little girls come together
Somehow it always ends in a Tea Party
Angela has been blessed
with many tea parties to come!
Let’s celebrate the arrival
of her second little girl, Sophie,
with a Tea Party of our own.”
Here is the little invitation I created for my party. If you don’t have time to make your own, FineStationery.com has a slew of adorable invitations that match a tea party theme here, here, here, here, and here.
And what is a tea party without fabulous tea party foods?
No Fuss Fabulous Tips for a Tea Party:
1. Doilies, doilies, doilies. If you are under 130 and don’t own tons of homemade ones, buy a few paper packs from the grocery store. Place them under every dish, plate, etc. You will not regret it.
2. Fresh flowers. I know we already went over that, but it’s worth repeating.
3. Tiny finger foods. This is a great opportunity to hit your local Costco or Sam’s Club. Mini eclairs, tea sandwhiches, scones, and bite-sized cookies are all perfect for a tea party. Oh, and don’t forget cream puffs! Women who are pregnant love cream puffs.
4. Whimsical pastel tablecloths are a must.
