No Fuss Fabulous is celebrating children by dedicating this week to all kid’s birthday party themes. Our One Lucky Duck Birthday party is especially designed for a baby’s first birthday. Because a first Birthday party should be spent watching your little one waddle around, all our One Lucky Duck party touches are purposely designed to keep your feathers as unruffled as possible. Both the custom invitations and our favor tags are available to print right here on our site. But no worries, if you want to run with other ideas we have included links to fabulous sites with more great ducky theme ideas.
As mothers of three toddlers between the two of us, Annie and I know the mood swings that accompany the age group. Trust us. We do. But we also know there is nothing like a child under three to heighten pure sunshine in your day. Straying away from the usual pink and blue, we purposely created this party (as well as our You Are My Sunshine party featured tomorrow!!!) with bright yellow and orange hues. Print out our NFF One Lucky Duck invitation here. Not in love? Although I don’t know why you wouldn’t be falling over the invitation I created 🙂 Here are a few more adorable options at Finestationery.com: this one and this one are my favorites.
These mini quacker cakes take the cake! The best part about them is you don’t have to bake! They are bake-free! You can thank me in the comment section. (Yes, I have been there. I have tried to make cakes while my two preciouses were stealthly eating the dog food, taking diapers off, and coloring my suede ottoman in very very permanent marker. I didn’t want that for you. I wanted the best for you. So I have saved the custom cake with raspberry cream filling and orange buttercream frosting for the tween get together. Young mom, you have not been forgotten. There will come a day you will most likely have to make Hannah Montana’s bust out of fondent, but it’s not today. Not on my watch.)
Here is to how to make these ASSEMBLE ONLY sweet little bake-free cuties:
1. Grocery Trip
Purchase mini marshmallows, frosting, Little Debbie Banana Marshmallow snack cakes, and either the pictured Marshmallow duckies (available seasonally at Walmart in the Easter section) or real rubber duckies (available in most store’s baby section).
2. Assembly
Unwrap your Little Debbie cakes and spread a small layer of frosting on top. Pile mini marshmallows on frosting to create “bubbles.” Place your duckie in the middle of the marshmallows securely using a small scoop of frosting on the bottom to secure.
Splish, splash! Everyone knows that if you are chasing one year olds around, you need to stay hydrated! Water makes a perfect and simple favor for the mommies of your guests. Print out our customized favor tags here. After removing the existing bottle’s label, add tag on top of water, and place bottles in a bucket of ice water with large marshmallows floating on top for bubbles.
No Fuss Fabulous Tips for creating a fabulous duck theme first birthday party:
1. Marshmallows are a perfect no-fuss solution for bubbles. Fill clear bowls with large marshmallows and place rubber duckies on top for centerpieces. I would take several bags of marshmallows (both mini and large) and spread them up and down the table for a wonderful “runner” with rubber duckies “floating” on top.
2. Trace duck feet on orange cardstock and tape them to the floor to create a little “waddling” trail for your toddler invitees. Add and post Duck Crossing signs.
3. Play music such as “Ernie and His Rubber Ducky”, “Rubber Ducky, You’re The One”, “Do the Rubber Ducky”, and “Splish-Splash”. Not only will it set the mood, but the one year olds will begin dancing and then your entertainment is basically set.
4. Fill a mini plastic swimming pool with rubber duckies. The guest that guesses the correct number of rubber duckies wins a prize.
5. When all else fails there is always the crowd pleasing game, “Duck, Duck, Goose!”
