Fussy Friday on Sunday: A Ratatouille (Rata-2-ee) Birthday

img_8472Two terribly cute two year olds recently celebrated their birthdays in style. Designed by their creative and culinary genuis mothers, Becky & Amy, this Ratatouille (“Rata-2-ee”) celebration is easily given star ratings that even Anton Ego wouldn’t argue with. After my two darlings attended this party, I was dying to feature it on NFF. To be completely honest, I don’t know if it could be labeled a party “Anyone Can Cook” but it was hands down the freshest idea I’ve seen at a Birthday party for awhile!

Becky, a mother of soon-to-be two, is the true definition of a creative genius. Creativity runs through this girl’s veins. You should see her fruit bouquets! Yes, I said fruit bouquets. I know. I thought only professionals and Martha did those too. No, Becky does. Oh, and cookie bouquets!! (She showed me how, but let’s be honest, probably not happening in the foreseeable future. So don’t be waiting for that tutorial on Fussy Friday anytime soon.)

Amy, founder of Snickerdoodlz, can be found pictured right next to Becky in the dictionary under creative genius. Don’t believe me? Check out her adorable designer fabric covered canvases here. And then right after you order one, check out this quiet book she created.

No Fuss Fabulous Warning: Don’t look too long at either one of these women’s blogs unless you are a) ready to begin a fabulous project immediately or b) have an anti-depressant handy for consumption. Just a friendly warning. Now back to the party.

The party was fun and fabulous for all ages – toddlers to adults. As soon you entered you were instantly transported to Paris. The living room was an outdoor ‘Paree’ city scape –

Becky had borrowed several play kitchens which entertained the pint-sized guests while parents ate at the “Bistro.” Cut-out mice were hidden throughout the party for everyone to find and count. The person who found the most mice “in the kitchen” won a prize!

You cannot have a Ratatouille party without fine food. Becky and Amy created a “French” buffet perfect for both parents and kids! Gold fish, grapes, pears, and cheese bites were served for the little ones. While adults dined on fine cheeses, gourmet crackers, eclairs, pirouettes, Pierre and French lemonade!

Do you see why I loved this party?

Becky made this super fabulous “cheese” cake for the adults topped with the one and only Remmy. Do not worry, you do not have to make this cake in order to have a successful replication of this party. But you realize, I had to show it. She made a Remmy and cheese cake!?!? I had to show it. It’s too fabulous.

img_8523While the parents dined on Remmy, the Birthday boys were served their own mini cakes topped with Eiffel towers (made from wafer cookies). Cupcakes adorned with mini French flags were served to guests. They thought of everything!!!

Along with the apron and chef’s hat, Amy created a fabulous goody bag for each child complete with a personalized cup, coloring book, Euro chocolates, character charms, stickers, and (my personal favorite) “Duck a l’orange” – a chef rubber ducky with orange slice candies. In addition, every guest’s parent who came submitted kid friendly recipes to the hosts that were put into a mini cook book for the parents to use at home! Too fabulous!
