Candy Cane Confection Inspiration

Candy Cane or Peppermint cakes don’t have to be time consuming to be festive and fabulous.

Here’s my favorite way to make one:

Simply make half batches of red velvet and white vanilla cake – to save time I often use Duncan Hines or Pillsbury’s box cake mixes.  They are easy and they go together well.  Cut each cake in half horizontally. When frosting, alternate between red and white layers, creating a festive candy cane effect. Use a smidge of peppermint flavoring in your frosting and press crushed candy canes onto the outside of the cake to send it over the top without having to do a perfect frost-job!  People will be shocked by your creativity and talent – while you will still have time to do a little Christmas shopping.

Another easy way to create a fabulous Christmas treat is to gather inspiration from other geniuses.
