Fussy Friday: Cupcake Bouquet

nffcupcakebouquet1With cupcakes all the rage these days, your friends will LOVE LOVE LOVE this cupcake bouquet! Create a few for inspiring baby shower centerpieces or just one as a “get well soon” gift for your neighbor. You could easily downsize or upsize the bouquet to your needs. I think small cupcake bouquets would make the most charming place setting additions. The upsize of this adorable project is 1) your friends will think you are a genius and you will have to agree with them AND 2) although I labeled this a “Fussy Friday”, it really is not as difficult as it looks! And you know how I love that. Here is how I made mine:

Supplies Needed:
– 36 Premade Mini cupcakes (This is an approximation. The number of cupcakes you will need depends on how large of bouquet you want to make. Small individual bouquets for place settings would most likely need less than eight cupcakes. The bouquet shown used three dozen mini cupcakes.)
– Premade Candy Melt Flowers
– Extra Candy Melts
– Disposable cake decorating or pastry bag
– Decorative container of your choice (Clay pots and galvanized tin vases work well.)
– Large styrofoam ball that fits snuggly on top of your container. Again the size will vary depending on your vase and how large you want your bouquet to be.
– Wooden cooking skewers

Directions:
Attach candy melts to your cupcakes by melting your extra melts into your disposable decorating bag according to the Candy Melt directions. Cup the tip of the bag and add a small dot of melted candy melt mixture to the back of your candy melt flowers. Place candy melt flowers evenly on top of each cupcake. Let flower candy melts dry to cupcakes firmly by placing the flower-topped cupcakes in the refrigerator for at least ten minutes. Place your styrofoam ball onto your decorative container. Be sure they styrofoam fits snuggly. Begin to place cooking skewers evenly into your styrofoam ball patterned 1″ a part. Depending on the length of your skewers and size of bouquet, you may need to cut the skewers. Skewers should only stick out of the styrofoam ball about one inch. Test a few flower cupcakes on your bouquet skewers to be sure that when they are placed on the skewer, the cupcakes lay flat against the styrofoam ball and will lightly touch the surrounding cupcakes. Once your skewers are placed, begin placing each flower cupcake on to the sticks. Reposition skewers as needed in order for each flower cupcake to touch snuggly to create a tight flower cupcake bouquet.
