My Graduate is One Smart Cookie

onesmartcookielabel-copyI love seeing the all the cookie buffets in jars that I have been seeing the last few years on Martha Stewart, Amy Atlas and various wedding and event blogs!

It is a perfect way to treat all those who supported your graduate! The great thing about cookie buffets is that they are attractive to the eye, easy to set up and clean, easy for self serving, and can serve many for a reasonable price. So if you have a graduation coming up and want to celebrate with family and friends this is a No Fuss way to celebrate.

What do you need? cookies, containers, tongs, boxes if you’d like to tier, napkins and/or plates, cups, one ladle, and of course, our printable labels!

What do you do?

1. You can always make the cookies ahead of time by making the dough 2 weeks before the party and freezing it in ready-to-bake balls. Then just throw them in the oven the day before, bake, and seal in air tight containers for the next day.

If you are feeling crunched for time, buy frozen cookie dough from your local grocer or cookie specialty store. Think creatively, my favorite place to order frozen dough is a bakery that doesn’t necessarily sell the dough unless you ask.

2.   If you do not have large glass jars, go to Walmart. They sell the same containers pictured in Amy Atlas’s setup for $10 to $30 dollars depending on the size. You will always be using these containers. I use them for flour, sugar, cereal, etc. in my pantry.  Have one container for each type of cookie.

3. Have a pair of tongs tied with a long ribbon for each type of cookie. You can buy a pair of tongs for a dollar at your local dollar store.

4. Label each container. Here is a free printable for the most common cookies. If you have a special request for a type of cookie label, please email No Fuss Fabulous. Also check out Loralee’s favor that she did for New Year’s Eve. You could print out the “One Smart Cookie” and do a similar favor for this event. cookie-buffet-martha-swetwart-weddings-via

5. Notice in the picture above via Martha Stewart has the containers tiered with boxes. Use boxes with wrapping paper or just cover them with a tablecloth. This creates an easy-to-access, space saving buffet plus it looks great. Just make sure your containers won’t fall over the edge of the table!

6. Set up with the last jar filled with water, ice and cucumber or lemon slices in it and the cups nearby.

7. Enjoy the night with your Smart Cookie!
