Tic Toc, Changed a Clock!

Sometimes inspiration strikes from an odd source. This is one of those times. You would have to be wearing blinders to not notice the fabric revolution that has been happening the last few years. It is AMAZING! No longer is the world of fabric stores make you feel like you are 100 years old nor does it bring back memories of 1980’s dusty rose and country blue (shudder). No, there are so many choices that are beautiful, fun and as lively as I  feel despite being over 30 (only a bit!) now. Repeat mantra: Thirty and flirty, babe, thirty and flirty.  Designers like Heather Bailey, Amy Butler and Anna Maria Horner as well as a number of others from Micheal Miller, have inspired me for many projects.  This is one of those times – if the fabric designers appreciate this hero worship from a not-so-great-seamtress slash maybe-not-even-qualified-to-be-called-a-sewer seamstress, I don’t know. But I doubt we’ll have an occasion to discuss it. There is less seam and more stress in my type of sewing, so that is probably why my inspirations for these fabric designs lead me to painting a clock not sewing a quilt!

So, I grabbed this you-know-what ugly (I would type the word that rhymes with you-know-what  to state patootie ugly, but my mom and my grandma read this blog. And that just seems wrong to put such a bold word for tush in writing!) Anyway, I digress….it was a really ugly clock at the thrift store. The plastic kind of decor made in the 1970s that was supposed to mimic the rococo designs of centuries ago but fell far short of true beauty. Probably because it was plastic. True beauty and the 1970s…there is a whole other topic….of course I was born then, so that has to count for something…

Here is the patootie ugly clock:

And one hour and a can of spray paint later, here it is again:

I think it goes well with my inspiration board. Plus I could always use a few more clocks around my computer/craft/workout room! Let’s be honest: I should take the clock down while I workout because 15 minutes is feeling like an eternity. Thirty and flirty babe…Thirty and flirty…..
