Your Parties Our Answers – NFF Q & A #1

Hi Ladies!  I am back to posting with one more bundle of joy in my arms!  I can’t even tell you how awesome the last few weeks have been.   My new little son is a dream come true!   My inbox has been flooded with best wishes and I want to thank everyone for all the love and support!  I am more energized than ever now to live a fabulous life free of fuss and focused on the most important thing to me – family.

Speaking of inboxes, Annie and I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting emails regarding your upcoming celebrations and ideas.  Our readers are honestly the most creative and I have no doubt the most beautiful (and-I-mean-in-the-outward-hottiepants-way) women ever.  Because so many of you have such great ideas and questions, we are going to post a weekly Q&A for our readers.

You ask the questions; we’ll give you our answers.  Take them, leave them, put a pin in them, or marry them. Do whatever you want with our thoughts, but please please please leave your suggestions and thoughts in the comment section as well!

So without further ado, here is our first No Fuss Fabulous Q & A post!

Question #1:  No Fuss Fabulous, …I wanted to know if you have any cute ideas for a cute little decoration with a treat to put at a place setting for a wedding breakfast. My youngest son is getting married and we are doing a wedding breakfast. I want something cute to put by each plate that our guests could take home. Something with a treat in it. Their colors are hot pink and hot orange… Any ideas? Thanks, Shirlene

Dear Shirlene,
First of all, you are the cutest mother-in-law ever.  Many of daughter-in-law would die to have  a mother-in-law who worried about a favor to put by each plate at their wedding breakfast.  You get twelve hundred stars from me for best mother-in-law ever.  Now back to your question… I have a million and one ideas but here are my fave favors for a wedding breakfast.  Each of them could easily be tied into your wedding colors.  See pictured.

1.  Pint sized preserves and honey coupled with biscuits or “homemade” bread are all the rage right now for wedding breakfast favors.   You can find a DIY tutorial on how to put the bread and jam pictured above at The Bridal Blog here.  Or you can find premade tiny jars of honey, preserves and jam online here, here, and here.   Many companies will create a personalized label for your preserve or honey jars with the Bride and Groom’s initials or wedding date on them.  I think they are just charming.

2.  Doughnuts have made a surprising appearance in the wedding scene ever since Gwen Stefani handed them out to her guests.  A little pastry box or bag containing two doughnuts with a personalized label can be adorable for a wedding breakfast.  JuneBug Weddings featured these two doughnut wedding favors as well as links to different breakfast favors here.  Check out the granola in a jar favor as well!

3. Personalized Love Muffin Mix is also a fresh idea that goes perfectly with a breakfast.  You can order them to come with a mini whisk attached and a fun personalized message.  You can find them here and here.  If you use this as a bridal shower theme I love the idea of having a photo of the groom labeled “Stud Muffin Mix” or something way cheezy like that…but that is just me.

4. Maggie’s Dinner Dates featured mini hot chocolate jars, as well as mini maple syrup jars for favors on her blog.  Check them out here.   I think these are especially fun if you are having a more casual French toast or pancake breakfast.

Question #2:  Hi. Okay, so you’re website so far has the most creative and adorable ideas. So, maybe you can help me. I am searching and searching for a great idea for my twin baby girls’ first birthday which is the end of august and I’m finding NOTHING………….so frustrated. I usually get carried away and have the best most creative ideas and I’ve got nothing. Not into the ‘2 peas in a pod’ they are not identical so it kind of isn’t fitting. Not into the character ideas, elmo, Winnie pooh, etc. I did like your one lucky duck, but trying to make it work for ‘2 lucky ducks’ but then it loses the #1 for first birthday thing. HELP…………..if you have any ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks so much in advance, Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I LOVE that you have twin girls that are turning one.  How cute are you?!?!…and such an over-achiever.  If I was in the grocery store and I saw you with your twin  little one year old girls, I would be one of those annoying people (who I secretly hate) that stop in front of your cart and tell you how cute they are.  Now back to your question.  You are completely right.  One Lucky Duck does not go with two lucky one year old girls in the least.  I am not into the character parties either unless you were having a Cookie Monster party and making these. I digress.  My favorite idea for your party is a Purrrfect Pair Kitty Party.  See photos below, as well as other ideas if you are not wild about the kitty purrfect pair party … although I don’t know why you wouldn’t be.  Are you looking at those cupcakes?

1. I think most people strayed away from Kitty parties simply because Hello! Kitty has taken over the kitty cat scene.   These adorable kitty cupcakes scream adorable-town.  I just love them.  They were created by Coco Cake Cupcakes in Vancouver and featured on the Cupcakes Take the Cake blog.

2. You can’t beat the cuteness factor of a tiny little girl holding a kitty cat purse.  It’s the only time she will be able to pull it off.

3.  Having the whole litter of girl guests in kitty ears and matching tutus is a mother’s photography dream come true.  After that picture is taken the whole party can go down the drain.  It doesn’ t matter.  You and the party will go down in birthday kitty cat cuteness history.  Check out Etsy for kitty ears here and here.   Also here is the link to my daughter’s one year old birthday party with a DIY tutu links, as well as inexpensive Etsy stores to buy tutus.

4. FineStationery.com has these adorable kitty invitations that I think go perfectly with the cupcakes.  Find fun twin invitation wording at Birthday in a Box here.

My other Twin Birthday ideas:

Sweet Like Cherry – Since cherries come in pairs, I think this would be a cute girly twist on the peas in the pod idea. Light blue gingham tableclothes with mini individual cherry pies in pastry boxes for favors, etc.
Double Happiness – This would be an Asian themed birthday party with mini Chinese take-out boxes, chocolate dipped fortune cookies, and Chinese laterns in pinks, red, and light blues.
Sugar and Spice …And twice as Nice
Candy Wonderland for TwoThis invitation from the Etsy store, Paper Heart Press, is just so cute for twin girls I had to include it.

Question #3: I don’t know if you and Annie have any great ideas, but my sister-in-law lives in New Jersey with her fiance. They are getting married in September in New York, but we want to throw them a shower at the end of this month with the family that is here in Utah…so, since they are traveling, we were gonna do a ‘gift card’ shower. Maybe you guys could toss around a few ideas. I’m at a loss…I don’t even know how to word the invite without sounding rude…ya know? Anyways, let me know if you guys have any ideas…Thanks a million!!  Celeste 🙂

P.S. hey…okay, so I came up with this little ditty to put at the bottom of their shower invite

Remember that Mark and Mary will be flying
when you are out doing your gift buying

So if you want to bring a small little gift
Remember that gift cards are easy to lift.

Dear Celeste,

I love that you just came up with the above little ditty!!!  So cute.  This is a hard one and I understand you not wanting to be tacky with the gift card theme, but at the same time wanting carefully nudge guests towards an easier gift to carry across the miles for your bride and groom.  If I were you I would focus on an airline travel theme for your shower that subconsciously reminds people that the couple will be needing to fit gifts inside their suitcases…or preferably wallets.  Here are some of the links I love for an airline themed shower!

travel

1. There are the cutest airplane invitations at FineStationery.com here and here.  I also loved this Destination Love invitation at American Bridal.  If you want to save money and not spend the buck on a professional invitation, I love incorporating FineStationery.com’s idea of folding your invitation into a paper airplane.

2.  Yes, you are seeing these favors correctly.  They are mini rolling suitcase favors filled with candy.  I love them.  Find them here

3.  Everyday Celebrating featured this airplane birthday party designed by Jennifer of Nounces Design.  It is adorable and I think you can seep so much inspiration from the birthday party and make it work for a bridal shower.

4.  I found these adorable airplane luggage tags that can be used as napkin holders.  Again if you wanted to save money, you could purchase your own at a discount store.

We would love to share your party you are creating.  Email us at nofussfabulous@gmail.com
